Croquet has been played at Clarks ancestral home since 1935. From 1989 until 9/11. Joseph Clark's touring croquet matches appeared in over 20 venues each year, from Plattsburg, NY, the Hudson Valley, Hartford, Westfield, Williamstown, Worcester and Ipswich… then, the planes hit. Within weeks virtually all the steady venues ended… like turning off a faucet. After 9/11, nobody wanted to do anything… and for The Wicket Grounds, the fun was over – almost... about five times a year the sound of mallet on ball resounds.
